Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNO): In a symbolic gesture ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday hoisted the Tricolour at the historic Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) in Lal Chowk, Srinagar. The flag was replaced and unfurled amid tight security arrangements as part of preparations for the August 15 festivities. Eyewitnesses present on the occasion told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the change of flag at Lal Chowk drew attention from both locals and visitors. “This is not just a ceremonial act; it is a moment that reflects the unity and spirit of the nation,” said a police official at the spot. He said Lal Chowk has witnessed many chapters of history and today it stands adorned in the colours of our freedom. Notably, the City has been decked up with buntings, lights and national flags, while security forces have been deployed in key areas to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations—(KNO)
